The word “watermelon” refers to the plant “Citrullus lanatus“, which belongs to the family of pumpkins, squash, and gourds  – “Cucurbitaceae“. The exterior skin is smooth and has a green, yellow or white color, with or without stripes. The internal flesh is juicy and sweet with a red, orange or yellow color.
